Mayor of Toyama Visits Kumikoza

The Mayor of Toyama visited Kumikoza.

After viewing the kumiko exhibits throughout Kumikoza, the Mayor also took part in a hands-on kumiko workshop.Possessing remarkable dexterity, he assembled the pieces with impressive skill despite it being his first experience with kumiko workshop. Throughout the workshop, he worked with a warm smile and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the process. Upon completing the piece, he was delighted with the result and shared a wonderful smile as he admired his finished work.

We were delighted to have the opportunity to introduce our efforts to share the unique appeal of Toyama through the art of kumiko during the Mayor’s visit.

Looking ahead, we will continue to preserve and pass on the traditional Japanese craft of kumiko to future generations, while sharing the value of local culture and craftsmanship with the many people who visit Toyama.
