About the Performers
Y U M I N E
The delicate tones of the kokyu that resonate deep within the soul and a powerful yet graceful singing voice. A kokyu and folk song performing unit with a unique style that honors traditional tunes long cherished by the Japanese people while also infusing them with a contemporary twist.
Kokyu & Shamisen player Misato Tatidani
A Yatsuo native, she is one of the few remaining kokyu players in Japan. The kokyu is Japan’s only traditional string instrument played with a bow. Driven by her desire to share its vanishing sound with the world, she is active in promoting the kokyu’s unique charms.
Japanese Folk Singer Yu Nakamura
A Toyama City native, she began training under Toyama folk singer Sumiko Nagaoka from the age of two. In 2019, she was awarded the Prime Minister’s Award at the “Japanese Folksong and Dance Competition.”

Participation Fee: ¥10,000
(Includes a Kumiko workshop, traditional Toyama sweets, and a welcome drink.)
